Eleni & Tom

Don’t miss the enchanting story of Eleni and Tom, a couple from Australia, who chose the breathtaking island of Kythira for their destination wedding.

Eleni, with her deep roots and quarter Kytherian origins from her beloved Papou, has cherished memories of summers spent at her parents’ home in Mylopotamos. This special connection to Kythira made it the perfect place for her and Tom to celebrate their love and create unforgettable memories with their family and friends.

Their wedding was a magnificent three-day affair that brought together 85 guests from Australia. The celebrations began with a pre-wedding dinner at the renowned Platanos Taverna in Mylopotamos. This traditional setting transformed into a lively party, with guests dancing the Zorba and other classic Greek dances, setting the tone for a joyous and festive wedding experience.

The wedding ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. Held at the picturesque Windmill Resort, the ceremony had the iconic windmill as a stunning backdrop. The reception that followed was elegantly designed with a U-shaped setup adorned with string lights. The art de la table was a vision of sophistication, featuring white and gold tableware, minimalistic white and green floral centerpieces, and candles that added a romantic glow to the evening.

To add a touch of local charm and authenticity, we incorporated handmade terracotta elements from the island into the design. The arch for the ceremony was beautifully adorned with traditional Kytherian pots (πυθάρια). These artisanal pieces were also used in various sizes and shapes for the seating chart, adding a unique and personal touch. The place cards at each table were custom-made little plates with the handwritten names of each guest, which doubled as wedding favors. Guests were delighted to take home these lovely mementos, along with their mpomponiera, as a lasting reminder of the special day.

The reception kicked off with a performance by a Greek live band, where the bouzouki player stole the show. The lively music and vibrant atmosphere had everyone dancing to both Greek and international hits, creating a fusion of cultures on the dance floor.

The celebration concluded with a relaxed day by the pool, where guests enjoyed homemade souvlaki, soaking in the sun and reminiscing about the incredible moments shared over the past few days.

Eleni and Tom’s wedding in Kythira was a beautiful blend of tradition, elegance, and heartfelt joy. It was an honor to bring their vision to life and to witness the love and happiness that surrounded this special occasion.

If you are dreaming of a destination wedding that combines personal heritage, stunning scenery, and unforgettable celebrations, let us help you create your perfect day on the enchanting island of Kythira.
